An excellent alternative to wood, plastic board is ideal for balconies and patios. Durable and maintenance-free, it is available in many colors.
Options
The high quality plastic plank is resistant to the many climatic variations we experience. Your new patio floor will be uniform and original, with no visible screws or fasteners. The product does not flake and requires no maintenance.
The planks can be worked with the same tools as wood. Even if the material is easy to handle, we suggest that you follow each of the following steps when installing your floor.
The structure can be made of wood or steel. The spacing between the joists must absolutely be 12 inches maximum. (Caution: Do not install over plywood)
Do not join the boards end to end. They must always be full length. Planks are ordered to the required length
Planks should be installed parallel to the house with the male side against the wall. You can remove the excess male and female parts on the first and last plank for a better finish.
The first plank can be fastened from underneath with a bracket or over the floor. If the latter, drill a hole for the screw caps using a 3/8″ drill bit. Caution: Planks can expand due to heat and cold. It is important to fasten the screws every 12 inches.
Screw into the female part of the plank at the 12 inches with 2 ¼ inch #8 treated wood screws. Caution: Plastic boards will not twist like wood. Screws are only used to stabilize the structure.
